EUROPEAN TRUCK MANAGER / GAME GUIDE

BUILDING A PRACTICAL TRUCK FLEET.

How to choose trucks, trailers and specialized equipment without buying capacity you cannot use.

Match the truck to the cargo

Not every vehicle and trailer combination is suitable for every cargo type. Check the equipment requirements and capacity unit before committing to a purchase. Freight may be measured by volume, weight or litres, and tanker work uses litres.

Keep trailer compatibility in mind

A trailer that looks larger or more expensive is not automatically the best choice. The towing vehicle, cargo type and trailer capacity all affect which jobs are practical. Consider the range of contracts you actually see rather than buying equipment for hypothetical demand.

Maintenance is a cost of growth

Vehicle condition declines through use. Keep an eye on mileage, fuel and wear. A poorly maintained vehicle can undermine the profit from otherwise attractive transport jobs, and very low condition can make it unroadworthy.

Specialize after the basics work

ADR and heavy cargo can offer attractive opportunities, but specialist equipment and qualifications need to fit your operation. Build a reliable core fleet before you invest heavily in a niche.
