HOW THE CALCULATION WORKS

Contribution per unit = selling price − variable cost. Break-even units = fixed costs ÷ contribution per unit, rounded up to the next whole unit. Profit at planned volume = units × contribution − fixed costs.

If contribution per unit is zero or negative, there is no finite break-even sales volume under these assumptions. Results exclude tax and financing costs unless included in your inputs.
